Hi everyone! I am new to the blogging world and am very excited to see how far this can go. I would like to share my fashion view points, style ideas, and inspirations. My goal is to provide and inspire my viewers with their own “Fashion High!”
My name is Loretta and I was born and raised in Miami, FL. Most people refer to me by my initials, LJ (which = Elle Jae). I am of Haitian Descent and come from a large family: I have 4 brothers and 3 sisters (I am #5 out of 8). Growing up, I have always been into fashion, as far as making sure I looked fashionable by my own standards. My father was the cause of that because he would not let my siblings and I leave the house without his approval of what we were wearing. His children were a direct representation of him, therefore he had to make sure no one could say anything bad about his children. So if he didn’t like something, we would have to change into something else. This is what caused me to always take pride in my appearance and be cautious of what I wore before I left my house.
My dad was very strict about our education and made sure that we all put it first. We were not allowed to work so that it wouldn’t be a distraction from school. I always maintained above a 3.0 GPA throughout high school and as my senior year got closer, I could not figure out what I wanted to go to college for. Going to College was not an option, it was a must and my father would not accept anything less. The problem for me was I didn’t have a passion for any of the studies that were offered at a University. When I asked my father if I could go to a Fashion & Art Institute to study Fashion and Interior Design, he was against it. Needless to say, I put my passion aside and went on to graduate with a Bachelor’s in Sociology from Florida International University. I then went on to graduate with a Master’s in Public Administration. Although both are great accomplishments, my passion still lies in fashion.
So here I am, finally following my dreams.
