Matchy Matchy

Growing up, I have always stayed away from being matchy matchy. I considered it to be a fashion faux pas and saw it as the easy way out of having to really put an outfit together. If I ever bought a matching set, I made sure to wear the items separately to avoid the faux pas. But what was once seen as a fashion faux pas, is now considered to be a trend. I found this simple matching crop top and skirt set at Macy’s and was a little hesitant to buy at first. Even after I bought it, I tried it on at home and wasn’t convinced that the matchy matchy trend was for me. Once I dressed it up with heels and make-up, I was pleased with how it all came together.

There are still ways to overdo a matchy matchy look. For example, I wouldn’t add to the matchy matchy look by wearing matching shoes or a matching hat. That would become a major fashion faux pas and trend gone wrong. Everyone remembers the Givenchy floral dress and matching shoes worn by Kim Kardashian to the Met Gala. It was not received well the media and fans. There is a right and a wrong way to follow trends and it is important to know those things because somehow Kim Kardashian didn’t receive the memo. Being matchy matchy is a bold trend to follow so proceed with care. No one wants a repeat nightmare as the usually fashionable Kim K herself experienced.
