“Prabal Gurung launched his eponymous collection in February 2009 with a philosophy encompassing modern luxury, indelible style and an astute sense of glamour. After beginning his design career in New Delhi he moved to New York to finish his studies at Parsons The New School for Design. Upon graduating, Gurung spent two years with Cynthia Rowley’s design and production teams. Soon after, he was appointed design director at the iconic Bill Blass, a post he held for five years until launching his own collection, PRABAL GURUNG” (www.prabalgurung.com). His affordable yet stylish collection for Target was a success and I had to search high and low for available items.
I scored this colorful shirt dress for his collaboration with Target and it was definitely a unique piece to add to my closet. The vibrant colors on the dress were only on the front and sleeves of the dress, while the back was solid black. With the keeping the focus on the dress, I paired it with solid royal blue shoes and a black high waist belt to give me a shape. I recently lost weight so the dress is a little big for me and the belt was a perfect solution. There was no way I was going to let go of this dress. It’s bold but simple and that’s what I love about it.
